What's in it for the horse?
Have you ever wondered what the impact is of training on your horse? The great news is for us as trainers that research is being conducted to work out how horses "feel" during interactions.
We have to pay more attention. Arguably the best thing about good training methods is that a) the horses arousal level is kept to a minimum and b) the expectations of the horse is shaped gradually, meaning the horse gets to master each behaviour before moving to the next step. Of course, all principles from the 10 Learning Principles combine to ensure the life of the horse is enriched.
